ANIC HISTORY

The Augusta Neighborhood Improvement Corporation (ANIC), established in 1999, is a nonprofit organization based in Augusta, Georgia. The Mission of ANIC is to revitalize the inner city neighborhoods of Augusta through creating affordable housing for low to moderate-income families while engaging the private and public sectors in the community development of these areas.

Our Goal:
ANIC works with surrounding neighbors, local nonprofit organizations, government officials and financial institutions to create financially feasible and broadly supported community revitalization. ANIC’s housing programs include subsidized home mortgages for any income homebuyers, commercial rental developments and mixed income rentals. ANIC is a federal approved 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.


What We Do:

Through generous donations, various grants and self-investing; ANIC has made quite a name for itself. ANIC has helped hundreds of clients become more savvy about the housing market and has equipped them with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed for a lifetime. Our organization can offer individuals financial counseling and guidance, funds for down payments (up to $7,500) and other associated cost as well as long term planning, advice and tips. We can assist our clients in managing their debt and finding new ways to manage their income for now and the future. We have helped families all over Augusta find safe,and quality housing they can afford.

Who is eligible?

Any home buyer who wants to a buy safe and reliable home is eligible. One of our main focuses is on the Laney Walker neighborhood located in downtown Augusta – current residents and families interested in relocating to the area are eligible for funds to help bring homes up to code and towards the construction of new homes. Since its beginning ANIC has assisted hundreds individuals and families to become home owners in the downtown Laney Walker area. "We recently built and renovated 139 home and rented properties throughout the area and are working to roll out even more at the beginning of the year." We have recently acquired a complex with 200 available residences to continue to create affordable housing in the area that will soon be available for rental and purchase!

The Augusta Neighborhood Improvement Corporation, Inc conducts and administers all housing activities in conformity with Pub. L. 88 352, Title IV of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and with Pub L. 90 284 Fair Housing Act. It affirmatively furthers fair housing in all activities. No person shall on the ground of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, or familial status shall be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under, any program or activity funded in whole or in part with funds made available by ANIC. ANIC does not discriminate because of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, or familial status in the sale, leasing rental or other disposition of residential property and related facilities, or in the use of occupancy there.
